Bereavement Support
On average, 90,000 hours of our lives are spent with our co-workers. For many of us, this is more time than we spend with our friends or our family.
This means that our co-workers have a significant impact on our well-being and our overall happiness. As a result, if you or one of your employees is facing turbulent times, being part of a supportive, compassionate workplace culture can have a huge impact.
At Workplace Bereavement, we work to raise awareness about bereavement, and how uniquely difficult this period is. Losing someone close to you will inevitably affect your ability to work. But, if your workplace has the right counselling and support systems in place, then the grieving period is made far more manageable.
Workplace Bereavement is a workplace bereavement consultancy and bereavement support specialist. We work with organisations across the UK and Europe, providing a comprehensive service that includes both bereavement counselling and pioneering training sessions.

What is workplace bereavement support?
Bereavement support is a type of counselling therapy, which a workplace provides to its employees. It consists of sessions – conducted by a trained bereavement specialist – that are designed to help individuals manage their grief, after the loss of a loved one.
A specialist bereavement counsellor will work with the bereaved, to help them understand and navigate the challenging emotions that they are experiencing. Workplace Bereavement is a team of experienced bereavement counsellors, specialising in workplace bereavement.
If you, a colleague or a member of your team is grieving, we can help you to strengthen your organisation’s support structure, by giving them access to professional counselling sessions.
Why is workplace bereavement
support so important?
Studies show that 35% of employees felt they did not receive bereavement guidance from their employers. As a result, bereaved employees will have an average of 30 days off work (beyond the initial bereavement leave).
Grief does not end when bereavement leave does. As employers, we need to have the right tools in place to support our staff, from the first few days of bereavement leave, up to the return to work and beyond.
By implementing the right support systems for bereaved employees, you can ensure your business has a supportive culture, where your employees feel safe, comfortable and respected.
By investing in bereavement support, you can create a compassionate and happy place to work; improve your employees’ well-being; help your managers act with empathy; and maintain a strong commitment to the highest standards of corporate social responsibility.

How we deliver our counselling
When you work with Workplace Bereavement, you will be connected with a dedicated bereavement counsellor. They will be on hand to support you, and offer advice whenever you need.
We offer our counselling sessions through video calls, over the phone, or face-to-face. It is completely up to the individual which option they would prefer. They can also choose to have their sessions take place individually (with just themselves and one of our specialists), or as part of a group session.
