Welcome to Workplace Bereavement

Bereavement is not a mental health issue. Grief is a normal human response to loss and we need to be prepared to safeguard our staff.

Studies highlight that 35% of employees felt they did not receive bereavement guidance from their employers. With the number of deaths in the UK being 667,000 in 2021, employers need to be ready for the extreme difficulty death leaves behind. One of the biggest hidden costs in the UK is absenteeism – a staggering £7 billion pounds yearly. A bereaved employee is most likely to have 30 days off beyond the initial bereavement leave. This is unscheduled time off.

We turned to Workplace Bereavement during an incredibly difficult time for our team, following a sudden loss of a team member. From the very first conversation, Jacqui and her team showed extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and clarity.

They provided immediate, tailored support to our team—gently and proactively checking in, while ensuring that every individual felt seen and supported, without pressure. It brought real peace of mind to know that this care would remain available for them during the difficult period and beyond.

Their ability to guide us as an organisation, while offering genuine human support to those most affected, made a lasting difference. We are all deeply grateful for their presence during a time when it was most needed.
